FAQ

What is your return policy?

If you get your order and it isn’t right, you won’t be stuck with it. Returns are accepted within 30 days of receipt and you will not be charged for return shipping. If it looked different on the product page, or if the quality is less than it should be, I’ll make sure that the mistake is rectified. A photo of the product will be requested so that I may address the problem on my end.

How long will it take for me to receive my order?

The standard commercial printer guarantee is delivery within ten business days. In the unlikely event that an order takes longer than that, I will give you an immediate refund and a sincere apology. Although I can’t guarantee it, orders typically get to the customer sooner than the 10th business day. BTW, if its a national holiday, it does not count as a business day. So, if the post office is closed, it doesn't count. Be assured, you will always have the ability to track orders and you can always get in touch with me should you have any concerns.

  • Bulk orders are the exception to the ten business day guarantee but that doesn’t mean you won’t get them within that time frame. If you are interested in a bulk order, just let me know and I’ll be happy to get you a delivery time frame.
  • Another exception to the ten business day delivery guarantee is for special orders. If you require modification to a design, or a custom design, please allow me extra time to do the necessary work. I will tell you exactly what to expect in relation to additional time when you inquire. In most cases, the additional time will be minimal.

Is there an additional charge for shipping?

No. All item prices in the store include shipping fees. When you’re here, there’s no need to watch out for manipulative retail tricks like low item pricing with ridiculously high shipping fees. This isn’t Corporate America and I’m not a dick who wants to trick you.

Do you charge sales tax?

Only if your order is being shipped to Ohio. Since I am based in Ohio, I am required to collect and remit sales tax on all transactions that are shipped to the state. I am not required to collect or remit sales tax to other states.

How are your items printed?

Everything in the store is printed using Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printing. Here’s a quick summary of DTG:

  • Dyes are applied to the garment and the fabric absorbs them. With other printing techniques, like screen printing, dyes are applied on top of the fabric and they stay on top of the fabric.
  • DTG produces a more vintage look because the dyes absorb into the fabric. If you look closely at clothing that was printed using the DTG method, you will see some small fabric fibers coming through the design. This results in colors that may be a bit more muted than on a screen printed shirt.
  • Be assured, however, that the designs on these shirts are vibrant and look amazing.
  • For what it’s worth, I prefer the look of DTG printing. To my eyes, they are richer in character than shirts printed with other methods. Nothing looks better than DTG on a pigment dyed garment. You'll see what I mean when you get your order.

What does Pigment Dyed/Garment Dyed mean?

This means that the shirt was constructed and then it was dyed. Typically, fabric is dyed prior to the construction of the garment. With pigment/garment dying, you get natural variations in color intensity. This variation is what gives the garment fade and character. Over time, the fade increases. Lastly, the pigment dying process yields a uniquely soft feel.

How Do your shirts fit?

The Comfort Colors T-shirts and sweatshirts that I offer have a loose, but not oversized, fit. Oversized shirts have longer sleeves and the overall length is exaggerated. My shirts have slightly shorter than traditional sleeve length with traditional overall length dimensions. But they are nice and roomy. If you want an oversized fit, I recommend ordering two sizes up. Likewise, if you want a tighter fit, order one size down. FYI: size charts are included in all the item descriptions on the individual item pages.

Do you carry a physical inventory?

No. Shirts from Bands That Never Were are printed only after an order is placed. When an order is placed it goes to both me and to my printer. I use this model because of the following cool benefits:

  • It allows me to offer a limitless menu of products and gives customers the ability to choose alternative options in sizes, colors, and even clothing types.
  • This model allows me to get you not only the merch you want but also to have it printed on the specific apparel you want. So if you’ve got your eyes on some Labia merch but you have a sentimental attachment to the classic Champion sweatshirt, no prob.
    • Prices vary from product to product, of course. But that does not necessarily mean that a special-order item will be more expensive than my standard offerings. If it’s cheaper on my end then it will be cheaper on yours. Lastly, in the way of disclaimers, I’ll get you whatever special request apparel item you choose, as long as it’s in stock with one of the printers in my network.
  • It enables me to customize products. If, for example, you have a party coming up and you want some merch for a band called Randy And The Jets, I can make that happen. And if you want all six shirts in Periwinkle, no prob.
  • It enables me to personalize products. If you want a Stalking Butler shirt from their tour stop in Bangor, or Bismarck, no prob.

What are the garment care instructions?

Like any clothing that has been printed on, it is recommended that washing and drying be done with the garment inside out and that a lower heat setting is used in the dryer. If fading doesn’t bother you, then you don’t need to turn your items inside out. High heat is taxing on fabrics and, as such, I’m a fan of using lower dryer temperatures for all clothes that you want to get good mileage out of. Lastly, it is important to wash Comfort Colors garments separately for the first couple of washes because the dye may bleed.
